Why Dangerous Weapon Penal Code was Changed

Last Year two bills were passed to redo the Dangerous Weapons Penal Code, effective 1/1/2012.

SB 1080, Committee on Public Safety. Deadly weapons.

Existing law generally regulates deadly weapons. This bill would reorganize without substantive change the provisions of the Penal Code relating to deadly weapons, to be operative January 1, 2012. This bill would incorporate additional changes proposed by AB 1810, AB 1934, AB 2263, AB 2358, AB 2668, SB 282, SB 1062, and SB 1190, contingent on the prior enactment of those bills.

SB 1115, Committee on Public Safety. Deadly weapons.

Existing law generally regulates deadly weapons. This bill would make cross-reference changes to provisions of law that reference various deadly weapons provisions in the Penal Code, to be operative January 1, 2012. The operation of this bill is contingent upon enactment of SB 1080, which would reorganize and make other nonsubstantive changes to the deadly weapons provisions of law.
